Ask The Right Questions To Your Child’s Kindergarten Tutor At Each Milestone

Getting a tutor for your child is the best way to see how they are progressing at school. Most of people often get confused about the right time to hire a private tutor for their child. We would recommend you hire a private tutor as early as possible, let’s say from kindergarten.

There are certain subjects like K2 English or K2 Math that might get a bit confusing for your child. If you can clear all his/her confusion at their early stage, they will be more confident about these subjects when they will go to the higher classes.

Nobody can analyze your child’s progress better than a private tutor as they will help them to learn, face challenges, which will result in their mark sheet. A tutor can always tell you what steps you can take for the further progress of your child. But to do that, you should ask certain questions to the private tutor and if her/she is good enough, they will answer all your questions without any hesitation.

M1: When The Tutoring Session Will Begin?

Before enrolling your kid to a tuition agency or hiring a private tutor, speak to several potential tutors. Some parents have no clue what they can or should expect from a private tutor. This creates a communicational problem between the tutor and parent and the kid’s education gets affected. Having a clear idea of how tutoring will be done should be your top priority. For example, if your child is participating in the Gifted Education Program (GEP), you should know how the tutor can help your child prepare for GEP English or GEP Math.

You might feel hesitant to ask some questions, feeling if they are right or wrong. So, we are giving you a list of questions that you can ask the tutor without any hesitation.

  • How will the private tutor get an idea about your kid’s preferences and needs?
  • After finishing a session, what can you expect from your child?
  • How the tutor will help your child to become comfortable?
  • How the tutor will test your kid’s progression?
  • Do you have to do anything supplementary after the session?

M2: Before And After The First Test

Exams are necessary, but for a child, it is nothing more than a fearsome stressful experience. While some might be able to face it and prepare accordingly, some might break down.

You need to talk to your child’s tutor about this if your child is facing difficulty in one or multiple subjects. If they are facing problems in certain subjects then you need to ask the tutor about the root cause of it and how he/she can help.

Here are lists of questions that you can ask,

  • Are there any study habits that are confusing your child?
  • Do they look nervous or uncertain during the review session?
  • Are they facing difficulty in certain subjects or it is just lack of motivation?
  • Is there any way for you to help your child?

M3: After Finishing The First School Term

You must check your child’s progress after each term to check if they are progressing or not. If the result is declining or even inclining, talk to the tutor about it and ask for the reasons.

Here are lists of questions you can ask,

  • Does your child have difficulty to adjust with the tutor?
  • Are there any areas where they made improvements?
  • What are the areas that need more focus for the next term?
